Repurposing a Piece of Sanderson

Turns out our little adventure for a Sanderson property isn't the only one in the works.  We spoke with several locals about other happenings in town.  The owner of one such project allowed us to reclaim furniture and other items from the shuttered Sunset Sieta Motel.  Fortunately, Joe was thinking bigger picture than furniture and got permission to reclaim part of the structure of the motel.  He has spent several days disassembling the breeze block walls and loading up our trailer.

One of our Instagram followers called them Brise-Soleil, a French term for this architectural element that absorbs heat from the sun before it reaches the building the blocks are shading.  We plan on using them behind the Desert Air as fence and shading for our backyard lounge project.

The original plan for that backyard property line was to use reclaimed metal sheeting.  It would have looked great, but we think this idea is cooler...figuratively and literally.

Down they come.
