La Cocina (The Kitchen)
/For a while now, we’ve been trying to figure out what to do with the storage shed at the elbow of our two guest wings. Then this summer we decided this would be the ideal spot to build out a private kitchen and dining area for our guests to rent out.
Here is what we started with…
We spent several days cleaning out all the tools and construction materials. My friend Zac came out from Austin to help me put up the board and batten ceiling.
Eric and Stephanie took care of painting the ceiling and walls ahead of Curtis resurfacing the floors.
Now its time to start putting it together. The below pic is our cabinet delivery.
We decided to add a window over where the sink is going. After cutting the cinder blocks to the appropriate dimensions, the kids wanted to help to knock the bricks out.
My dad joined me on a trip this October to help wrap up some of the details. He’s patching up the brick around the window.
There are still a few minor things to address, but La Cocina is ready for business. This is gonna be a great space for our guests!
