Adding Some Shade

We love spending time outside, and we want to provide some additional areas for our guests to hang out comfortably and be protected from the sun.  The current shade structure has one table that is frequently used, but it's not quite enough space.  Our first project will be to add an arbor in the center grassy area in front of the motel rooms.  The arbor will provide shade for a set of swings and some seating.

Joe will be coming to Sanderson on July 1st with all the metal and his welder.  The only part of this I'm dreading is digging the post holes in that rocky desert soil.  We spoke with Katy at the Z-Bar General Store and they have several pots of the Star Jasmine (looking forward to buying local).  It'll take a couple of years, but eventually the sides and top will be covered with Star Jasmine Vines providing shade.  In the meantime, we will put up a temporary shade cloth.

Fourth of July celebrations are a big deal in Sanderson and our first full weekend as owners of this little hotel should be a busy one.  We already have several reservations for the festivities and would like to have this structure erected by then.
