One Week To Go

That's our back story (Our story link.).  That's how we found Sanderson.  I don't think we mentioned any dates in the past blog posts, so I'll give you a sort timeline of events.  February 2018 the Ryza family stumbles into Sanderson on a wrong turn.  Mid-April we take another trip to Big Bend National Park and find Sanderson a nice place to stay.  Now 'our story' is comprised of two families...the Ryzas and the Godins.  On the same mid-April trip we find ourselves lodging in Sanderson again because of a campsite assignment snafu in the national park.  Our love of Big Bend Country seems to suddenly be overtaken by the fondness of this little town. 

Marathon to Sanderson

It was Joe's spotting of the 'For Sale' sign in front of the Desert Air Motel that spurred this whirlwind idea of buying a motel in Sanderson.  Since our trip in April, we have made a handful of trips back to Sanderson and find ourselves more and more drawn to that special piece of roadside America.  The air is dry, the people are friendly, the views are spectacular, and there is so much promise there for our future.

So when I say that's our back story, our back story goes back only a matter of months, but the events feel so serendipitous (hence the naming of the first four blog posts) that we could not ignore the call into west Texas to turn a crazy idea into fruition.

Change in ownership happens at the Desert Air Motel on July 1st.  We are counting down the days.   We are running on excitement and anticipation.  We hope you will continue following the blog to see the gradual renovation of bringing the Desert Air Motel back to its original charm.  We hope you share our stories of this west Texas motel with your friends.  Lastly, we hope to host you in our dream business venture in the idyllic desert town of Sanderson.
