Testimonials of Our Own
/It sure has been a whirlwind of a summer. We took over ownership just two months ago exactly and so much has been accomplished already. Turning this place back into its *new* vintage form will be a long process, but the place looks better every week. Our Instagram page has several pictures documenting the process and progress.
The thing that is not visible on posts and pictures is the pride taken in owning and running this gem. Joe, Kalea and Nick have been the face of the motel this summer and their delight in providing great service at a location dear to them has been noticed by our guests. This motel is not only a nice, clean place to stay, it is also a place where our guests are appreciated and always welcomed back.
Below are some testimonials that have been written about The Desert Air Motel since the change in ownership in July 2018. We hope our guests continue to be pleased staying here and always feel welcome.

My family were really happy to discover the Desert Air Motel. Our room was comfortable and immaculate. Great water pressure in the shower. We slept like logs. The owners were professional and incredibly helpful. They gave us great tips for a local restaurant and a nearby hike, so we could have a good meal and take a little exercise before getting back on the road. We’ll be back next summer, for sure. - B.R.
This motel is neat, clean, affordable, and has a cool retro vibe. It has cinder block construction typical of the 50s and 60s and is not fancy but the air conditioning worked well and we never heard a sound from the outside in our room thanks to its construction. We got to know the co-owner/manager Nick better than we might normally have as we had car problems that kept us there longer than we had planned. Nick helped us almost continuously over several days helping us get our truck back on the road as well as familiarizing us with Sanderson and its history. - J.S.

This hotel is a destination location!! Room was perfect! Ambiance was perfect! And the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us! On a hot day there’s still a breeze under the outdoor shady seating area. Swings for the kids. Affordable stay for a trek into Big Bend and back. Then relax outdoors or in a well air conditioned room. - B.S.

TripAdvisor:
Sanderson is a special place to us and we were delighted to find that new owners are friendly and doing great things with this motel. It's vintage feel fits Sanderson and takes one back to simpler times. We were very pleased at how clean everything was and enjoyed the antique furniture in the room. The a/c worked great and the beds were comfy. - R.C.
I have stayed at the Desert Air many times over the past 25 years. Love sitting in the chairs outside and watching the sun go down over the desert canyon to the west. The new owners have put extra attention into maintenance and hospitality. They recognize the significance of this preserved and spotless survivor of the desert and will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Watching sunsets and listening to the distant passing trains here just does something to the soul. If you haven't driven old Highway 90 from Del Rio to Alpine, you've cheated yourself out of some of the best scenery and stops in all of Texas. and the Desert Air is part of that experience. When was the last time you stayed at a motel and wanted to sleep with the door open ? Probably never, but you'll be tempted here. - TexasTenBest
