An Evolving Motel Office
/When we took over the motel in July we were taking over an operational establishment with clean rooms and and an inviting exterior courtyard. Most of our projects (except the deep cleaning Kalea has been killing!) have been about adding a fresh coat of paint here or new seating there. They have been projects that get done in a few days with bursts of hard work and fairly quick gratification.
And then there is the office. The office did not represent the appeal the rest of the motel offers. The office is a long term project. First order of business was to scrape off paintings on the windows. They were cute, but not our style. Then there was the deep cleaning. Now we had something to work with.
Kalea brought up some sheer curtains to soften the room and let the light shine in. She also set up an awesome coffee bar for the guests. Now was the time to make some big changes. The built in counter was torn out and everything was moved to the next room as a temporary office. Next, the tile floors came up.
Wood plank tiles were installed and suddenly the office had an an extreme makeover! The window to the apartment was covered and painted white, as well as the wall where the built in counter met the wall. A temporary desk was brought in.
There are still lots of changes to make in the office including a custom front desk. Did we mention Joe is a welder? This is just Phase I of the office. Already, it’s so much more inviting.
